ABSTRACT

Skills acquisition resources play a crucial role in the teaching and learning of business education. This research project aims to examine the availability and utilization of skills acquisition resources for teaching and learning in business education in Imo State, Nigeria.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. The research objectives include assessing the availability of skills acquisition resources in business education, examining the utilization of these resources by educators and students, identifying the challenges faced in accessing and utilizing these resources, and proposing strategies for improving the availability and utilization of skills acquisition resources in business education.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the availability and utilization of skills acquisition resources in business education. The research will assess the availability of skills acquisition resources, such as practical training equipment, software applications, simulation tools, and industry partnerships. It will examine the utilization of these resources by educators and students, including the frequency of use, integration into the curriculum, and effectiveness in enhancing students’ skill acquisition. Additionally, the research will identify the challenges faced in accessing and utilizing these resources, such as financial constraints, inadequate infrastructure, limited awareness, and insufficient support from stakeholders. It will propose strategies for improving the availability and utilization of skills acquisition resources, including resource allocation, public-private partnerships, capacity building for educators, and collaboration between educational institutions and industries.

The implications of this research extend to business education institutions, educators, administrators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders in Imo State, Nigeria. The findings will inform business education institutions about the current availability and utilization of skills acquisition resources, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding resource allocation and curriculum development. Educators can utilize the research findings to enhance their instructional practices and integrate skills acquisition resources effectively into their teaching methods. Administrators can use the research findings to develop policies and allocate resources to improve the availability and utilization of skills acquisition resources in business education. Policymakers can benefit from the research findings by developing policies that support the provision of adequate skills acquisition resources and promote collaboration between educational institutions and industries. Industry stakeholders can collaborate with educational institutions to provide access to resources, mentorship opportunities, and real-world experiences for students.

In conclusion, this research project aims to examine the availability and utilization of skills acquisition resources for teaching and learning in business education in Imo State, Nigeria. By understanding the current status, identifying challenges, and proposing strategies, stakeholders can enhance the effectiveness of business education and ensure the availability of resources necessary for students’ skill acquisition
