Abstract
The swamp water from Oron Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State was obtained and analyzed for the possible presence of some heavy metals using atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The insults indicated that the contents of cadmium, Nickel, Chromium, Lead and Cobalt were 14.14 ± 0.004, 10.42 ± 0.002 and 3.16 ± 0.003 mg/100g respectively. The high amounts of these metals suggest that the water under study is polluted. Human creativities which encourage the release of these heavy metals into the environment should be discouraged.
