ABSTRACT
This research examines creolization as espoused in Samuel Selvon’s A Brighter Sun and Michelle Cliff’s Abeng as a post-colonial ideology that enhances regional unity, tolerance and integration in the Caribbean islands. The study uses the postcolonial theory to interrogate certain western ideologies that trigger racism among the Caribbean citizens. Through the use of language and characterization, Selvon and Cliff project a future that will encourage the Caribbean people to sustain their cultural values as they continue to assert their individualities. The writers believe that cultural tolerance is therapeutic for a multi- cultural society like the West Indies.
