The phytochemical investigation of lettuce was carried out using standard qualitative procedure. The result of the investigation of lettuce reveals that alkaloid, flavonoid and tannins were present in moderate amount while saponin and cardiac glycosides were present in trace amount. The result suggest that lettuce are rich in the bioactive compounds alkaloid, flavonoid and tannins.
